NHSI Taft Site

Taft Community Medical and Dental Center was established due to increased demands from that area for primary care services, and to overcome transportation barriers, on August 17, 1992 we commenced on our year-round primary and comprehensive medical services at a 4,200 SF leased medical facility.  In June of 1994 we opened our 6,400 SF medical facility.  The population of that service area, which includes Taft City and its surroundings, is approximately 31,305 as per KCED Corp. and U.S. Census 2000 (Tract 33.02-36), which are currently incorporated in out general service area.  Of the population in that area, 12.5% work in agriculture and unemployment is 36% on an average throughout the year.  29.5% of the total population have an education level of the 9th grade or higher. A total of 4,312 users in the 2005 calendar year; farm workers were 969 and 3,343 others; medical users were 3,154 and dental users were 1,158.
