NHSI Buttonwillow Site

Buttonwillow Health & Dental operation started in 1978 with services provided to 650 users and 2,880 users in 2002.  The service area population is mixed with 68.0% Hispanic, approximately 11,407 people per Kern County Economic Development Corp. (KCED) and U.S. Census 2000 (Tract 32.01, 32.04, 37, and parts of 38.03 and 38.09), 11.9% speak little or no English.  Agriculture and related trades or industries employ approximately 52% of the total employment of the area.  Our goal was to service 3,400 users or more, in the next three years.  Dental services were established in June of 1984.  Other users from out of the service area all the way to Bakersfield and other surrounding communities also use this site. Goal was reached as indicated above during the 2005 calendar year, 2,051 medical and 654 dental, farm workers were 1,360 and 1,345 others.
